An ongoing exercise in translating sound into images, with a few unexpected detours along the way
That’s more or less how this collection came to life.
Over the years, I’ve created a variety of artwork inspired by the music and universe of Australian "epic electro progressive power pop metal” band Voyager.
Some of these images found their way into the band’s visual world. Others went on their own creative adventures.
Here’s a selection of them. Enjoy the ride.

APPROACH
Music often sparks visual ideas for me. Sounds, rhythms and melodies take shape as images and forms in my mind.
The interesting part is figuring out how to bring those images to life. I look for visual references that come closest to what I imagine, borrowing elements from different styles, artistic movements and visual cultures to build something that feels right for each particular piece.
There might be a little Escher here, a hint of Kandinsky there, with comic books and video game aesthetics making occasional appearances.
I don’t really stick to one visual formula. Each project gets to find its own language, and I’m quite happy to follow an idea somewhere unexpected, occasionally even a little absurd.
PERSONAL ARTWORK
Not everything needs a brief, a deadline or a practical purpose. Some ideas are simply too much fun not to draw.
Feel free to click on the images to take a closer look!
MOVING IMAGES
two very different stories.
One involved music, pixel art and a creative partner on the other side of the world. The other involved a lot of individual frames, patience and me spending an unreasonable amount of time making things move.
An early animation experiment
An original visual concept brought to life through 192 hand-drawn frames. Visual concept and frame-by-frame animation by me.
PROMISE 8-BIT Inspired chiptune
A fan-made tribute to Voyager’s Promise, Australia’s entry for the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, brought to life through a collaboration between Lucas Irvine (Australia) and me (based in Poland).
I created the 8-bit chiptune arrangement, while Lucas took care of the pixel art and animation.
I put together the chiptune by ear, carefully picking out the instrumental parts while listening to the original track and working with the combined guitar and synth stems Lucas kindly shared with me.
Only when Lucas sent me the finished video for review did I notice something in the end credits: he’d used an isolated synth part.
Wait. WHAT?! There was a separate synth track available this whole time?! 😂
Well, I suppose doing it the hard way was part of the fun.
